Our Assemblies
You are welcome here! You are welcome to grow, to ask questions, to work through doubts, discouragements, and enslaving sins. Whatever your struggles or background, young or old, rich or poor, we hope this is a place you can grow in your relationship with Jesus. We pray you will feel God’s love living in His church and experience the transforming power of the gospel.
If you visit one of our assemblies you won’t see any stage performances or contemporary worship productions. Our goal is not to entertain or impress. We hope that each of our visitors leave feeling spiritually nourished, encouraged, and further equipped to serve God each day. Our primary concern is that God is glorified in our worship and that He is pleased with what He sees among us. On this basis, we try to keep our worship simple, orderly, reverent, and heart-felt.
In our Bible studies and sermons we seek to always keep the focus upon the Scriptures. While illustrations and stories from our own experience can many times help us make application of the Bible to our lives, we never want to distract from the power of God's word itself. We believe only the Scriptures can help us truly come to know God and understand His will for our lives (John 8:31-32).
In our song worship we seek to focus on the words we are expressing to God and to one another. While we love to harmonize with the voices that God has given us, we recognize that these songs are not simply for our own listening pleasure. Our primary aims are to teach and admonish each other (Col 3:16) and make melody with our hearts to the Lord (Eph 5:19).
In our prayers we seek to reverently express our thanksgiving to God and humbly petition His intervention in our lives. We firmly believe in the power of prayer and see it as an important part of of the Christian life, both individually and collectively (James 5:16).
In eating the Lord's Supper each Sunday we seek to remember the great sacrifice that Jesus gave to pay the price for our sins. We eat unleavened bread that represents Jesus' body and drink grape juice that represents His blood. In this way, we symbolically take part in Jesus' sacrifice. This encourages us to remember what our sins cost God, reminds us of the covenant that we have made with Him, and helps us renew our devotion to live for Jesus each day (1 Cor 11:23-29; Acts 20:7).
We also participate in free-will offerings each week to support the work of the Lord's church (1 Cor 16:1-2). While we believe this is a duty God has given His people, we never solicit contributions from our visitors. We believe each individual Christian is accountable to God for how they chose to give in supporting His work (2 Cor 9:7).
